Diver Refresh

Been out the water a while or new to cold water diving?
A refresher will get you back blowing bubbles!

A scuba diving refresher course is a short program designed to help certified divers review essential skills, safety procedures, and diving techniques after a period of inactivity or change in dive location. It’s ideal for certified divers who haven’t been underwater for over six months or are diving in different conditions than their previous training.

What Does a Refresher Course Cover?

  • Equipment Setup & Use – Reviewing how to assemble, check, and use scuba gear properly.
  • Basic Skills Practice – Mask clearing, buoyancy control, regulator recovery, and other fundamental skills.
  • Emergency Procedures – Reviewing hand signals, out-of-air scenarios, and other safety drills.
  • Dive Planning & Safety – Understanding dive computers, decompression limits, and environmental considerations.

Who Should Take It?

  • Certified divers who haven’t dived in over six months.
  • Certified divers that have only ever dived in tropical waters and unaccustomed to thicker full length wetsuits and steel tanks.
  • Certified divers who feel rusty or need some extra time with a dive pro to improve underwater comfort.

How Long Does It Take?

Most refresher courses are run over two dives at Port Noarlunga Jetty or Rapid Bay Jetty and take half a day or full day respectively.

Doing a Scuba Refresher with a Group is Better!

  • Group Discounts: Dive shops typically offer discounts for group bookings, so splitting the cost can make it cheaper per person.
  • Travel Savings: Car pool and save petrol costs on the drive to the dive site.
  • Friendly Support: Practicing skills with fellow club members makes the experience more enjoyable and less stressful.
  • New Dive Buddies: You will meet dive buddies for future club dives.
